NashvilleVoyager Magazine is a publication dedicated to promoting mom and pop shops, artists, makers, and small businesses. We’re pleased to announce that they have featured Nashville Painting Professionals in a recent interview, naming us a “hidden gem” of the Nashville business scene.

An Interview with Ryan Parr

In an article published on June 20th, 2022, NashvilleVoyager spoke with our founder and owner: Ryan Parr. Ryan began by sharing the story of Nashville Painting Professionals.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte in 2019, Ryan started working for Sherwin Williams. He served in their product finishes division. This role involved the sale of products to massive manufacturing plants scattered throughout the state of Tennessee. Unfortunately, the onset of the pandemic resulted in the elimination of Ryan’s position. This caused him to shift to projects involving consumer brands.

Ryan’s new role connected him with all kinds of professionals, including contractors, property management companies, and painters. He spent months learning the ins and outs of painting work from his coworkers and clients.

“After ten months of gaining valuable insight, I decided to start my own venture,” Ryan said. “The Nashville area has a very large market of painting companies, and I knew differentiating ourselves from the others would make us competitive… We guarantee excellent communication with our customers, proper planning and preparation prior to beginning a job, and teamwork to complete our projects with excellent customer satisfaction in a timely manner.”

Life Lessons from Business Ownership

When asked whether the journey has been smooth, Ryan explained that there were a few bumps in the road. Starting a business during the pandemic wasn’t easy, and the young entrepreneurs faced a host of obstacles, including:

  • Networking and building connections,
  • Finding hardworking employees, and
  • Learning how to find success during “unprecedented times.”

Fortunately, Nashville Painting Professionals’ hard work has paid off. What started as a four-member team has quickly expanded to a total of 20 employees. In just two years, Ryan has assembled an expert team of painters, stainers, drywall repairmen, and more. He attributes his success to the support of his family and the hard work of his team.

“As a business owner, I want every employee to feel their role is an integral part of the company and that they are valued,” he remarked. Ryan drove this point home by highlighting the impact of three MVPs on the Nashville Painting Professionals team: Sarah Baker, Eduardo Sanchez, and Jasmin Sanchez. Together, these crew members have made the company what it is today.
